Blogging: So Easy, A Caveman Can Do It

I've been seeing a Geico commercial on tv lately, and I don't understand it. I remember all those "it's so easy, a caveman could do it" ones where they talked about how easy it is to get a quote online. But these new fangled commercials aren't so easy to decipher. The one that troubles me is the one where the caveman and Billie Jean King are playing tennis. They both walk over to their chairs and the caveman says "I can't believe I'm beating Bille Jean King" to which she responds, "you're not beating me, you haven't even gotten a serve yet." Then they show the score board where the score is something like 6 - 6 - 5 to 0 - 0 - 0 for BJK. But the only thing the caveman notices when he looks at the scoreboard is that the match is being sponsored by Geico. When he looks around, he notices other Geico signs all around the court, even on the chair that he was sitting in. So he gets up, says something like "I get it, I'm quitting but I get it" and then he walks away.

I'm not sure why this commercial bothers me so much, I just hate that I don't understand what it's trying to tell me. Does anyone know? Seriously, any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you haven't seen the commercial, you can watch it here

I think it's that they are trying to get him to feel like a fool by advertising Geico all over the place so that he'll loose? Like it totally killed his desire to win. That is what I got from it, at least.

I'm fairly certain that Billy Jean King said something to the same effect back in the day. It's still not a funny commercial, but maybe that'll help explain?

Ha ha, thanks guys. C'mon Geico, how is your commercial supposed to make us want your insurance?
