Rain

I don't know how this happened, but the past few weeks, as I've been enjoying the rain and thunderstorms, I've noticed that the rain smells different in Kansas. It's a little disappointing because I love the way rain smells in Utah. Don't get me wrong, it still smalls good here, but the smell isn't a crisp.

When I mentioned this to Jason, he asked me to tell him what rain smells like in Utah ... how do you describe that? It just smells like rain. What is it that makes the rain smell different? I'm assuming it's the humidity. But it could also have something to do with the altitude. Anyone have any ideas?

Speaking of weather, there was another tornado warning last night. This time there was an actual tornado that touched down and it was only about 5 miles away from us! From what I understand, generally the winds bring storms to the northeast, and if that had happened, we would have been right in it's way. Luckily, this time the storm headed almost straight east, and missed Wichita.

Even though we weren't in the path of the tornado, there was still a lot of heavy rainfall and wind last night. We watched news coverage for most of the night, until we were out of the path of the tornado warning. It's interesting to watch the weather coverage during a tornado. I went on YouTube a few days ago and watched a lot of tornado chasers and even some weather man coverage of the tornado that hit Greensburg, KS last year, the one that literally left the entire city in ruins. It was fascinating to watch them predict and report the weather. But none of the weather guys ever wear a white suit coat, guess that only happens on KSL.
