Today, Lisa brought to my attention the sad news that the New Kids on the Block (or NKOTB if you like them rough) have released a new song. I'm guessing it's in preparation for an entire album release. The song, entitled "Summertime," shows some potential, but sounds more like a high schoolers attempt at a boy band song. Not to mention, the lyrics are almost laughable at times. The music video shows even less potential, merely showcasing girls dressed in bikinis, throwing their arms in the air, dancing like it's 1999.
The women who screamed and cried through NKOTB concerts are now all grown up, they are mothers, they have children. They don't have time to waste listening to the New Kids' cry for a comeback. Those who do have time and money to throw away on their album, aren't remotely interested in the New Kids on the Block, just like I didn't care who the Bee Gee's were, so I'm not sure who they are trying to target here.
If you'd like to watch the video, I found it on YouTube, complete with the trademark NKOTB hand wave. You can watch it right here, if you'd like, or close this web page now, and save the 4 minutes of your life you'll never get back.
