Tonsillitis: Do Not Attempt This At Home

Yes, as you may have guessed from my clever title, I'm currently enjoying all the pleasantness that tonsillitis has to offer. But, as fun as that may sound, it's not. Whenever I swallow, I feel like my throat is on fire! Not to mention the lovely white infection that has spread across my left tonsil. It feels so itchy, almost like I have a cottonball stuck in the back of my throat. But, hey, it kind of LOOKS like I do!

Since I don't have health insurance at the moment, I visited Dr. WebMD for my diagnosis. After reviewing the description I found, and a few pictures, I have self-diagnosed myself with a nasty, but not extremely horrible, case of tonsillitis. Luckily it's not that bad of an infection. The info I found said that 75% of tonsillitis cases are mild, and they will generally go away on their own after about a week, I just have to wait it out. As per WebMD's request, I prescribed myself asprin ... now everyone in my family say it together "to reduce pain and inflammation" (that one's for mom).

Other than my cottony mouth, and a sore throat, I'm feeling fine. Jason made me promise that if it got any worse, I would go to a REAL doctor. I don't have any problem with that, but as long as it's just an inconvenience for me, and not anything more serious, I'll continue on my path of asprin, and gargling warm salt water occasionally. Oh, and LOTS of sleep, which shouldn't be too much of a problem since Jason is going to be working all weekend.

We wanted to go see the new Batman movie, but since he's working, and it's opening weekend, we decided to wait until next week when the crowd has died down a little. It looks like it's going to be a good one. There's a movie theater here called The Balcony, where you sit at tables and eat dinner while watching the movie, that's where he wants to see it. Sounds like an upscale Brewvies if you as me, so that can't be too bad. Can't wait to check it out.

Keep your fingers and toes and even your eyes crossed that my tonsillitis will go away soon!
