Studying, Studying, and More Studying!

Well, today is the day. Jason has been studying for weeks for his certification test. It's made for some really boring nights for me, but I don't mind. He has a written test and a practical, where he has to get at least 70% for the written and the practical is all based on the decision of one man on whether or not he passes.

He emailed me a few minutes ago and ... wahoo, he passed the written test! I knew he would, because he's very smart. And he had a very smart studying assistant! :) Now it's down to the practical. Apparently it's a very difficult test, but when you're responsible for inspecting airplanes, it makes sense that it would be a complicated and difficult certification process. We don't want just ANYONE inspecting airplanes, do we? He told me that there hasn't been anyone who has passed the practical the first time for over a year.

What it requires is, he is given a part, and someone else has already tested it out and found multiple defects. He has to find all of them and mark them out correctly using many different kinds of methods. Just learning about them while helping him study for the last few weeks, has made me appreciate how hard his job is and how hard he works on a daily basis.

This is a big thing for him because, if/when he becomes certified, he'll be making $2.00/hour more! That's a big step up, so keep your fingers crossed for him today!
