Tonight is my last night in Utah. I've been busy practically every day that I've been here. I spent a lot of time with my family, so of course I'll miss seeing them, and spending time with them, but I'll be back for Christmas. Just enough time for them to save up plenty of money to buy me a fancy Christmas present. :)
My "vacation" started off with me helping Heather and Ben in their basement. There were a few late nights, but it was fun to work with them and see them before they left. After a few days of being put to labor, I took them to the airport so they could go live in London. (Makes my move to Kansas seem pretty lame, huh?) Then, I spent a few more days with Ben's mom, Marianne, in Heather and Ben's house finishing the final stages of completing the basement, also coordinating miscellaneous jobs and the final cleaning of the house. I spent one day visiting with my new little nephew, Alex, and my cute niece, Ashley. The nexy day was devoted entirely to completing and adding the final touches to the family reunion quilt. Then it was off to the airport again, but this time it was to pick up Jason. The day after he arrived we went out to Ang and Jeremy's house again so he would have a chance to visit with them. Then, following a brief drive up Big Cottonwood Canyon to look at the changing leaves, we met up with Lisa and went with her to an "Office" season premiere viewing party. The following day we went to the hospital where I used to work and I introduced him to a few of my friends and former coworkers, then it was off to the zoo. That night my parents bought us dinner at The Bohemian, a German-themed restaurant in Midvale, then we watched the presidential debate together. Saturday was spent with my mom's side of the family at a family reunion. Since saturday was our anniversary, we went out to dinner together and afterward, met up with Lisa, Dallas and my cousins, DeAidra, Joseph and Brittany, to go to a corn maze. That was a lot of fun! I always have such a fun time with my cousins. We all act a little crazy, but that's what family is for right? ... to release your inner crazy. Finally, today we went to Lagoon to "decompress", as Jason would say, before our excruciating long roadtrip back to Kansas. Tomorrow we hit the road in the wee hours of the morning. We're stopping in Denver to have lunch with some of his extended family, but hopefully we'll make it to Wichita before it gets ridiculously late.
I'm so glad I was able to come visit everyone back here in Utah, and I'm really sad that it has come to an end. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get enough time off of whichever job I'm at at the time, so I can come home for Christmas, even if it's only for a few days.
I am not looking forward to another 16 hour car trip. At least I'll have Jason with me this time. Wish us luck! Hope to see everyone again really soon!
Finished!
