Whew ... Finally!

Yesterday, the cleaning crew came by to finish cleaning the upstairs of Heather and Ben's house, so that's finally done. Check. Then my dad and I went to their house again last night to finish hanging the blinds downstairs, so that can be crossed off the list too. We also hung a closet door. Check. We didn't get the hand rail up, so I volunteered Jason to help me with it when he gets here. So, (almost) check there. Then, just today, I completed the quilt that we are going to tie at the family reunion that's coming up this Saturday. Check! I've felt so behind the past few days because I've known that I had a lot of things that I needed to get done, but now they are FINALLY done! Woo hoo!

I have a typing test lined up with the post office next week. I'm hoping I can get a job there, since it will help me start to get out on my own in Kansas and do something that doesn't also include Jason. Not that I don't love spending time with him, because I do, but I feel like I need to create my own identity out there, and I haven't been able to accomplish that yet. I'm looking forward to meeting new friends, and having a job to go to during the day to get me out of the apartment. It will also be nice to start getting a pay check again. Whether it happens to be this job at the post office or not, this has given me the courage to go out and do things on my own, which has lead to more of a feeling that I'm becoming Sharla, Kansas resident ... not Sharla, girlfriend of Kansas resident and full-time apartment dweller. :)

Heather and Ben have been in London for a week now. School started for them this week, so I'm sure they're busy. I know they're still trying to find a flat to live in. Right now they're living in a hotel, which I'll bet isn't really helping their finances. So hopefully they'll find a place soon.

My nephew, Alex, is now 2 weeks old, and he's still SO CUTE! I spent some time at Ang and Jeremy's house on Sunday, and then yesterday my mom and I watched Ashley and Alex while Ang and Jeremy went to a doctor's appointment. Ashley's so cute! I'm going to be sad to say good-bye to her because she doesn't quite understand that I'm leaving and she won't see me again for a long time. It's been a lot of fun to see how much she's grown up and how much she talks. I can't believe how fast she has grown. I feel like it was just a few months ago that we were all in the hospital, waiting for her arrival. Time sure does fly by. It's times like this that make me wish I could be here and in Kansas, because I feel like I'm missing out on so much that's going on with my family. Why doesn't my family all just move to Kansas? Come on guys, it's awesome ... they've got tornadoes!

A few pics I've taken the past few days. Aren't my niece and nephew the cutest?

Here I am holding Alex

So cute! Here he is sleeping. He's laying on one of the burp cloths I made for him. (It's that fun yellow fabric with monkeys on it.)

And now for something completely different:

I mentioned in an earlier blog that my car recently turned over 100,000 miles, well, here's the picture to prove it! Woo hoo! Here's to 100,000 more.
