Well, yesterday afternoon the union of machinists at Hawker Beechcraft voted to accept the new proposal that was put before them, which means ... no more strike! I think Jason liked having them on strike a little because it gave his department time to catch up on scanning and inspecting parts, where before the strike they were behind quite a bit. It also gave him the opportunity to do a few things that hadn't been doing regularly before. And the company had been giving the employees free lunch everyday during the strike. And although free food is always nice, I know he's very glad it's over. No more picket lines to cross every morning and afternoon. No more forced overtime. Finally things can get back to normal at work.
In related news, he just took another part of his practical exam - to get certified - and he felt good about it. He was told it would take a few days for them to look at it and determine whether he passed this part or failed it, and he's been waiting to hear back. Hopefully he passed this part, which would mean he only has one more part to the certification process before he's 100% fully certified, and would be given a $2.00/hr raise. Obviously, that's what he's most excited for, since he's trying to get money together to buy a house. So keep your fingers crossed for him!
Today after he gets off of work we're driving to his parent's house to visit them for the weekend. It's about a 4 hour drive, so he wants to get started as soon as he gets home. There's a burger place in Winfield, KS (the city where he used to work) that he wants to stop at on our way to Missouri to pick up some hamburgers. He says they're the best! I don't know if anything can hold a candle to Crown Burger, but I'll give it a try.
Finished!
