Well, it's getting to be that time of year again. Yep, tornado time. They have started testing the tornado sirens around the city. For someone who'd never heard them until just a few months ago, they're kind of eerie. I didn't think they would really sound like they do in the movies, but they do! However, when it's storming outside they don't seem as loud as they do when they're testing them on a nice clear, sunny day.
Norway wasn't too sure about them. I had him outside when they first started testing them. They let them run for about a minute, then turn them off, then back on again for another minute, back off. They do it about 3 times. But there are multiple sirens around the city, so there may be one that's close by that they test, then after they've done the 3 on 3 off thing, they'll test another one, so you can still hear sirens in the distance.
I'm pretty excited for tornado season this year. It was exciting last year. We only heard them initiate the sirens during a storm a couple times. Once a tornado touched down just 5 miles south of us! Since the apartment is on the 3rd floor, we packed up a bag and headed down to the laundry room which is a separate building that's only 1 story tall. It isn't the safest place to be if one actually hits, but it's safer than 3 stories in the air!
This year though, we'll have a house with a basement where we can go in the event of a tornado. We have an appointment with a realtor today and, I think I mentioned this in a previous post, we've already been pre-approved for a loan. Exciting stuff. Can't wait to have a house of my own! Well, I guess I have to share it, but it'll be mostly mine. ;)
Finished!

You gotta admit though, sharing a home with the one you love is totally the bomb.
